Come Dance With Your Baby

Welcome

What should I bring to class?
First of all, you’ll need to bring a baby carrier. These come in all different shapes, sizes and brands. It’s whatever suites you and your baby’s needs and as long as you feel comfortable and safe.
You’ll of course need to bring whatever you’ll need for your baby, such as formula, blanket, change of clothes, diapers, any baby items that you require.
A bottle of water is also suggested because throughout the class and especially at the end, you need a drink to keep you hydrated after sweating from dancing around.

What should I wear to class?
Since you’ll be moving around a lot during the dance class, it’s best to come in comfy clothes. Stretch pants, capri’s, a tank top or t-shirt are great with a pair of running shoes, sneakers or dance shoes if you have them.

How old should my baby be before taking the dance class?
It’s recommended that babies be at least 6 weeks old, with some neck control before taking the class. At that time moms are on there way to starting moving around more, exercising and working out on a regular basis. It’s all about your level of comfort for you and baby when using the baby carrier for the length of the class.

Will my baby disrupt the class if she/he is fussy, crying, hungry, sleepy or spitting up?
Since the entire class are new moms, then we all know what to expect with a baby. Crying, fussing, sleepy or a spitting up baby comes at any time of the day and place. At Baby Steps, we want you and your baby to feel as comfortable as possible, so feel free to tend to your babies needs at any time during the class. The instructor will show you the appropriate place to change your baby. If your baby is asleep when you get to class, you can leave your baby in the car seat, while you start the class and then when your baby wakes, put on your carrier and join the fun. The movement, rhythm, music and being snuggled so close to mom usually makes your baby relaxed and rested even fall asleep by the end of the class.

Do I have to pay the full price for the dance classes even if I know I’m going to be away?
Yes, Baby Steps only offers packages of 6 dance classes, totaling $60 per session. We do however, encourage moms and baby to come out to try a class free of charge to see if you like the class. We also, offer make-up classes to accommodate any missed classes. You can take a Baby Steps dance class at another location or in the next session, it’s totally up to you and what fits you and your baby’s schedule. We totally understand that babies can be up all night, have a bad day or get sick, so we are willing to accommodate a missed class.

I have no dance experience, can I still take the class?
Yes, Baby Steps is designed for moms of all ages and abilities. Whether you have dance experience and training, or have 2 left feet, we simplify each step and movement so everyone can participate. Each class, we review the steps and incorporate them into combinations so everyone gets moving and having fun, while staying fit at the same time.

How do I sign up for a dance class?
It’s easy. All you have to do is contact Rhonda Dimma the dance instructor by telephone or email and she will inform you of all the details. You’ll choose a class, and then we’ll send a registration form, send payment and then you’ll be put on the class list.
